Tea Party rally after parade

September 01, 2010 - Independent Tea Party Patriots (ITPP) host a rally following the Labor Day parade in Clarkston, Sept. 6.

The rally will begin at about 11:30 a.m. at 90 N. Main Street in downtown Clarkston on the grounds of the old township hall. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided at no charge. Keynote speaker will be Wendy Day, an organizer and leader of the Tea Party movement in Michigan.

Day, a military wife and mom of four, helped organize the first Tea Party rally in Lansing in February 2009. She also led the April 15 rally at the Capitol in Lansing in an effort to promote lower taxes for all.

She was the main speaker at both events, and established Common Sense in Government. Also, several members of the local Tea Party group will make brief comments. The primary goal of the event is to let other concerned citizens learn more about the ITPP organization and its goals.
