The Brandon latchkey program is now enrolling for the 2010-2011 school year. The program offers care between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Daily activities and crafts are offered, as well as family discounts. Details: 248-627-1859.

Moms Club

Chamber meeting

From 5:30-8 p.m. on Sept 14, the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce will host a mixer at the Village Pub, 411 Mill St., Ortonville. The event will cost $15 with RSVP by Sept. 10 or $20 at the door. A great chance to network with local businesses. There will be dinner and entertainment on the patio, along with drink specials, prizes and more. Beginning soccer

From 6- 7 p.m.,Tuesdays and Thursdays: Sept. 14, 16, 21, 23, 28, 30, Oct. 5, 7, Brandon Township Community Park coed program introduces youngsters 3-6 years old to team sports and basic recreational soccer fundamentals. Eight sessions include instruction, drills and scrimmages to prepare youngsters for the next level. Bring a #3 soccer ball and full bottle of water to each session. Shin guards are required for participation in this program. Cost is $50 per child (includes a team T-shirt). Registration deadline Sept. 9.Details brandontownship.us.

OCEF sale

At 9 a.m., Sept. 13, clean and reusable items will be accepted at St. Anne Church, 825 Ortonville Road for the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund (OCEF) to benefit the local food pantry. Books, clothing, toys collectibles, household goods, tools, sporting goods and other items are needed. No large appliances, mattresses, used building supplies or items in need of repair. Beef pastie sale

Golf outing

Check in will be 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., Sept. 18, at Devil's Ridge Golf Club, Oxford for the annual golf outing—four-person scramble to benefit the Brandon High School Hockey Club. Cost is $90/player $360/foursome, 18 holes with cart, longest drive/closest to the pin prizes, hot dog lunch at the turn team skins available, filet and chicken dinner folowing golf, Vegas hole, door prizes, 50/50 raffle. Dodgeball

The free community gym and dodgeball tournaments at the Victory World Outreach Church are moved to every first and third Saturday of the month from 7-10 p.m. The kick off date is Sept. 18. During these events, kids can play basketball, dodgeball, foosball, table tennis and board games. It is $1 to enter the dodgeball tournament, which includes the divisions sixth grade and under and seventh grade and up, and the winning team in both divisions takes home the entrance money. Kids 10 and under must be accompanied by an adult. There will be free food and pop sold for $1. Volunteers and chaperones are needed and appreciated, as well as any food donations.

Wojo's Walkers

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept 25-26 the Wojo's Walkers will be hosting a community yard sale at Wojo's Greenhouse 2570 Oakwood Road. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society and the Ortonville Crop Walk. Yard sale donations are accepted at Wojo's Greenhouse daily 10 a.m.-5 p.m.. No clothing please. Spaces will be available to rent for $15 each. Details: 248-627-6498.

Chamber golf

At noon, Oct. 1 at the Davison Country Club, the Last Chance Golf Scramble will be held. The sign-up fee is $75 per person if received by Sept. 15, otherwise the fee is $85 per person. Business teams can sign up with four players and a chance to sponsor a hole for $350. To sign up as a corporate sponsor, the fee is $500 and includes the business team of four players, a free ad on the chamber website for a month and promotion at the golf event. Individuals may also sponsor a hole for a fee of $100. Dinner will be held at 6 p.m. and is welcome to non-golfers for $40 per person. Prizes will be awarded for longest drive for men and womens and three closest-to-the-pin holes. Details: 248-625-5222.

Crop Walk

Registration will begin at 1 p.m. and the walk will begin at 2 p.m., Oct. 3 for the CROP Walk, at the Ortonville United Methodist Church, 93 N. Church St., Ortonville. Details: Kristen Danikolas, 248-627-6423.

Divorce recovery

From 7-9 p.m., Wednesdays from Sept. 29 through Nov. 3, a Divorce Recovery Workshop will be offered at St. Anne Church, 825 Ortonville Road, Ortonville.
