October 06, 2010 - City Council recognized Dale LaCroix for his "exemplary leadership" during his time as Police Chief of the city.

"The job you have done with limited resources is beyond what anybody could have expected. I think it was evident and obvious by the reception we've gotten by the last several months (at our meetings)," said Mayor Stephen Arkwright. "We basically tied both hands behind your back and said 'give us a police department.'"

Arkwright, who served as the first police liaison when the city started its own police department, said the city went through several chiefs, but LaCroix probably came in when department was at its lowest point.

"We had a lot of issues when you came in," he said. "You were extremely well- received by the public, very well-received by the businesses district, which was never happy with what we had before."

LaCroix said he couldn't had done it without the men he had working for him.

"Unfortunately the officers couldn't all be here tonight, but I want to tell you. Those are the greatest guys you could imagine. For the limited resources we had those guys devoted a lot to this place and they were what really made it work," LaCroix said. "If you ever see them and get a chance one day to thank them, take that chance.

"I want to thank everybody on the council, the business people, and the citizens especially for what they did while I was here," he said. "Maybe we'll see you again some other time."
