October 13, 2010 - Coffee hour

There will be a coffee hour at 9 a.m., Oct. 29 at The Citizen, 12 South St.The public is invited to attend and enjoy treats and conversation. Donations for OCEF will be accepted.

Goodrich Halloween

From 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 31, trick-or-treating will take place in Goodrich. Atlas Township will sound off the siren to designate the start and close of the established hours. The Goodrich Village Council is sponsoring a candy drive for those who need additional treats due to the large number of children in their neighborhoods. Residents can drop off bags of wrapped candy or make a cash donation to the Village Office, 7338 S. State Road, between the hours of 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday; 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Wednesday; and 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Friday. Candy will be available for pick-up at the Village Office between 12-5 p.m. Oct. 28 and 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Oct. 29.

Ortonville Halloween

From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Oct. 31, the Village of Ortonville will host trick-or-treating. Church Street from Mill Street to Oakwood Road, Cedar Street from Mill Street to Ball Street and Ball Street from Cedar Street to Church Street will all be closed to vehicle traffic during trick-or-treating. No cars will be allowed in or out during that hour. There will be a bonfire with cider and doughnuts at the DPW building, 159 Cedar St., after trick-or-treating. Candy donations are accepted up until Oct. 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 476 Mill St or at Papa Bella's Pizza, 525 Mill St. after 5 p.m. To be put on the list for Halloween candy, call or stop by the Village Offices. Genisys manager

Angela Swain is the new branch manager for Genisys Credit Union, 250 N. Ortonville Road, Ortonville.

The Brandon Township resident is happy to be working in the community she lives in. Swain came to the Ortonville branch from Rochester Hills and is a 9-year employee of Genisys Credit Union, formerly T & C Federal. She has a bachelor's degree in business management from Baker College, is married to Shawn and is a new mom to 4-month-old Elliott.

Swain encourages residents to come in and see the full line of services Genisys offers, including free checking text and mobile banking, and auto loans with rates as low as 3.49 percent.

Make a difference

From 6:30-7:30 p.m., Oct. 19 the Sherman-Wudarcki-Sutton VFW 582 Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a "Make a Difference Day," at 476 Mill St., Ortonville. Bring boxed and canned food for the upcoming Thanksgiving dinners from OCEF through St. Anne Chuch. Details: Candee Allen, 248-627-6623.

Shoo the flu

From 10 a.m.-noon, Oct. 18, McLaren will provide flu shots at the Atlas Township Hall, 7386 S. Gale Road, Goodrich. Costs: Flu shot $28, pneumonia shot $50. Details:810-636-2548.
