October 27, 2010 - On November 3, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. the Wild Ones, North Oakland Chapter will host a free presentation: 'Stormwater – The Impact of Michigan's Storm Water Management on a Stressed Economy' at St. Daniel Catholic Community Church, 7010 Valley Park Drive.

The featured speaker for the evening is Tammie Heazlit, who is a nationally recognized expert on Municipal Storm Water Management and has received multiple awards for her presentations. Heazlit was educated at Western Kentucky University in hydrogeology and City/Regional/Environmental Planning, and her 20+ year career has provided opportunity for rare and extensive field observations nationwide. Heazlit is a recipient of the Prestigious Kentucky State Park Conservation award and increased stormwater compliance in the state of Utah by an estimated 94% in under 3 years, all while helping to develop national policy. She is credited for the success of one of the few prosecuted criminal stormwater cases nationally, as well as being instrumental in the EPA's issuance of a second consent decree against Wal-Mart in region 8 for egregious storm water violations. Heazlit is currently working on two books on stormwater management, one for children, and the other to hopefully raise awareness of the number one impact to water quality and aquifer health nationwide.

Heazlit will discuss how the Federal Stormwater Program can save municipalities millions of dollars and shift the financial responsibility of cleanup onto polluters. She will present a stormwater pollution plan and discuss how to help Michigan restructure into a truly 'Green Economy' along with talking about how to create environmentally-based jobs.

Wild Ones, North Oakland members hope to educate local residents and businesses on the importance of Stormwater and how it impacts communities that we live in during this stressed economy.

This presentation is free; however registration is recommended. To register, or for more information, please contact North Oakland Chapter President, Jim Brueck, at: (248) 625-7597, mdbrueck@sbcglobal.net or email Mary Pellerito at mary.pellerito@gmail.com.
