Thanks for community support of...
November 03, 2010 - ...land conservancy
Raising healthy vibrant communities with clean air and open space was the focus of "Motown Pride-Hometown Conservation", our local land conservancy's annual Wild Night Out fundraising event.
Thanks to the guests, auction donors, advertisers, volunteers and sponsors who so generously supported this event. Their efforts and valued donations will help us maintain the character of our community where people, land and water are all valued and as the Motown tune says, shown a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T!

Thank you to Clarkston News, retailers, Peg, Kevin, and friends for treating us the way we should be at the Howl-oween doggie parade. Total run of the city, treats from everyone, lots of petting and prizes.
We could do without the silly clothes and hats but we have to humor the humans or they get difficult to control, and it is nice to get dressed up, go downtown and see friends.
We do appreciate the prize for most humorous (the king plays the fool well), but everyone should know that we will be vigilant in protecting our kingdom from tyrants.

The Clarkston Area Optimist Club would like to thank our co-sponsor, Independence Parks and Recreation Depart, and the Clarkston community for making our Friendly Forest event on Saturday, October 23, at Clintonwood Park a tremendous success. Thanks to the Parks and Rec. Department management and staff and over two dozen of our Optimist members along with over 25 Junior Optimists and Octagon Club members who brought the Friendly Forest to life.
All the smiling faces from all ages coming thru answered the question of "How are we doing"?
Business sponsors were Big Boy Restaurant, Brose Electric, Clarkston State Bank, Clarkston Medical Group, Scott Hazelton and Jim Wilhelm of Edward Jones, Smith's Disposal and Recycling, and The Print Shop.
Station sponsors were Al Deeby Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, Cherry Hill Lanes North, Clarkston Design Center, Inc., Independence Twp. Fire Department, John Bowman Chevrolet, Oakland County Sheriff's Department, Oakland Eye Care, and Planned Financial Services.
Thanks to everyone for proving the Clarkston area is one of the best places to live in Michigan with caring, concerned, and supportive residents that make good things happen.

It is with great honor and pleasure that I thank all of the many chair people, volunteers, directors and support staff at Clarkston High School for a job outstandingly done at our Clarkston Marching Band Invitational last Saturday.
This event was all day, hosting 15 marching bands from around the state of Michigan.
Special thanks to Dr. Rod Rock and Gary Kaul for taking the time to present awards. A huge thank you to Mike Lewis, Shelley Schwaderer Roland, Justin Harris, and the many other directing support staff, for their dedication, hard work and love for music in this district which is constantly shown to our young musicians every day!
There are many Clarkston area businesses, including the Clarkston News, that support Clarkston Schools Instrumental Music Association, CSIMA. A special thanks also to Guido's Pizza, Wendy's and Uncle Peter's.
CSIMA would not be able to put on such an event without you and we thank you so very much! I also want to thank all the parents who come out and watch our marching band, rain or shine!
And most importantly, I'm so proud of the Clarkston High School Marching Band students!
I've had the privilege to have three of my children in marching band over the last six years, so I know the endless hours these students spend preparing for competition.
I thank them for marching a beautiful show and want them to know how special they are and that they are some of the finest musicians in the state of Michigan!
Kelly Finazzo, president, CSIMA
