November 03, 2010 - Their colors might be blue, but the Clarkston Chiefs Freshman Blue and JV Blue teams are not sad about anything after their games on Saturday.

Both teams won their division playoffs and are going to the Northern Youth Football League Super Bowl VI.

The undefeated freshman blue team, led by head coach Tom Nicklin, played Oxford Gold and beat them, 18-6.

The team is made up of 8- and 9-year-olds. They were seeded number one going into the game, while Oxford was seeded in third.

The JV blue team had a tougher time - going against their friends and league mates, JV Gold.

"The community cheered on both teams as they fought hard and long," said Karen Nicklin.

It took the team of 10- and 11-year-olds three overtimes before a winner took the game. The JV Blue team, led by head coach Jeff Buchmann, won 12-6.

The boys head to Oxford High School, 745 N. Oxford Road.

Chiefs Freshman Blue plays at noon against Oxford Freshman Blue.

The JV Blue team follows at 3 p.m., against Birmingham JV Blue.
