November 03, 2010 - Teens for Christ

At 7 p.m., Nov. 6, the United Methodist Men will host "Worth Everything" at the Goodrich United Methodist Church 8071 S. State Road, Goodrich. The group consists of 70-80 teens that do an inspirational concert and skit program. Details: Frank Hecht, 810-636-7222.

Spaghetti dinner

From 4-7 p.m. on Nov. 11, at the Goodrich United Methodist Church, the Goodrich High School National Honor Society will be sponsoring a spaghetti dinner fundraiser to raise money to buy holiday gifts and necessitites for area families in need.The dinner includes salad, bread, spaghetti, a beverage, and dessert. Adults are $7 and children under 12 are $4. Carry out is available.

Senior citizen dinner

Starting at 4 p.m., Nov. 18 at Brandon Middle School, 609 Ortonville Road, the Brandon School District is hosting the Annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner. The event will have entertainment and a traditional Thanksgiving feast prepared by the Brandon School District Food Services Department. Support the event by making a donation for the door prize contest, table accessories, centerpieces, etc. A $1 donation per person is requested to help offset costs of the event. Volunteers are also needed before, during, and after the event to help out in a number of ways. Any and all donations will be gratefully accepted and acknowleged at the dinner and through publications.

At 5 p.m., Nov. 13, the Edna Burton Center, 435 Ball St., Ortonville will host a Thanksgiving potluck dinner/installation of officers. Details: 248-627-6447.

Casino/Brenda Lee

At 10 a.m., Dec. 13 a trip to Soaring Eagle Casino/Brenda Lee trip will leave the Edna Burton Center cost $30 per person (this includes the driver tip & Brenda Lee tickets). Receive $25 back from the casino. Details: 248-627-6447 or Faye at 248-627-6041.

Battle of the Books

At 7 p.m., Nov. 15, the Brandon Township Library, 304 South St., will host a Battle of the Books. Youth in fifth and sixth grades are invited to put together a team of five and an adult sponsor for this annual event, sponsored by the Friends of Brandon Library. Teams will read six books in three months, and then will compete at the battle April 18. Teams are limited to 10, and you must register and attend the Nov.15 orientation meeting to receive instructions and a set of books. Senior Lock-In

At 7 p.m., Nov. 17, the Brandon High School Class of 2011 will host a parent committee meeting for the 2011 Senior Lock-In at Brandon High School, room 137. Details: Lorena Williams and Mary Soave 248-627-1820, ext 1100.

K9 dog fundraiser

On Nov 17, MacPhee's Restaurant & Pub, 650 South Ortonville Road, will host a dinner to help support Ortonville's canine officers and their dogs by donating a portion of the proceeds to the K9 Police Dog Fund. Get a chance to meet the officers and their dogs and enter a 50/50 raffle. Details: 810-797 -3648.

Santa's gift shop

From 5-8 p.m., Dec. 2 the Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 South State Road, Goodrich will host a Santa's gift shop. Vendors and crafters will have gift items, gift wrapping, kids make your own Christmas gifts at "The Kids Kraft Korner," chili dinner and bake sale. Free admission. Vendors/crafters wanted.
