There will be a coffee hour at 9 a.m., Friday, Nov. 19, at The Citizen, 12 South St., Ortonville. The public is welcome to attend and enjoy sweet treats and conversation. Donations will be accepted for the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund.
School board meeting change
The Nov. 22 regularly scheduled Goodrich School Board meeting has been changed to 6 p.m., Nov. 29.
The change in time was made following the Goodrich Area Schools Board of Education Monday night meeting. School officials said the change is necessary in order to accommodate a mediation session with the Goodrich Education Association. The school board meeting will take place in the Goodrich High School Community Room. Details: 810-591-2251.
Goodrich-The village council voted 5-0 to accept the resignation of Bill Conley, village code enforcer. The letter addressed to Village Administrator Jakki Sidge and village council dated Oct. 30 explains he (Conley) is under suspicion by the Genesee County Sheriff Department.
Council president Wartella said applications are being accepted for the part-time job.
Businesses in The Citizen readership area of Brandon and Groveland townships and Goodrich are encouraged to contact the newspaper regarding their participation in Black Friday (Nov. 26), the traditional start of the holiday shopping season.

Joe Carrier of Randy Wise Ford, 968 South Ortonville Road, was elected president of the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce during the regular meeting at the Brandon Township Library on Tuesday.
Carrier replaces outgoing president Fred Waybrant.
Also elected was vice-president Lisa Dwyer, of Amerifirst Mortgage, Sherry Regiani, of Regiani Dental, and David Kwapis, Brandon Fire Chief.

At 9 a.m., Nov. 20, a community building project has been scheduled for the new sledding hill lift station at the Brandon Township Community Park, 1414 North Hadley Road. The project is expected to take about six hours to complete. Tools needed include ratchet sets, along with rakes and shovels. About 12 volunteers are needed to unpack and assemble the lift. From 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6, the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce will host theChamber Multi-Mixer at MacPhee's Restaurant, 650 South Ortonville Road. The cost is $18 with RSVP by Dec. 3 or $25 at the door. There will be networking opportunities, dinner, a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and drink specials.
