November 17, 2010 - Coat drive

The "Coats for the Cold" coat drive runs through Nov. 30. Bring new or gently used coats to Real Estate One, 875 S. Ortonville Road, and place in the PODS bin.

Thanksgiving service

At 7 p.m., Nov. 22, The Ortonville Area Clergy Alliance invites all to give thanks for the blessings in their lives at the Ortonville Unitied Methodist Church, 93 N. Church St., Ortonville. Details: 248-627-3125.

Office closed

The Citizen office, 12 South St., Ortonville, will be closed Nov. 25 for Thanksgiving. The office will reopen at 9 a.m., Nov. 26.

Christmas in Goodrich

From 5-9 p.m. on Dec. 2, the Goodrich-Atlas Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the annual Downtown Christmas in Goodrich. The event will include a tree lighting ceremony, choir and carol singing, and the reading of the Christmas story. Thoughout the downtown area will be street vendors, music, Santa Claus and more. It is urged that community groups, churches, businesses and school or club groups to participate in a service project or fundraising/promoting activity. There will be limited space for an inside table rental, the cost being $20 with an eight foot table supplied. Chamber mixer

From 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Dec. 6, the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce will be host the Chamber Multi-Mixer at MacPhee's Restaurant, 650 South Ortonville Road. The cost is $18 with RSVP by Dec. 3 or $25 at the door. There will be networking opportunities, dinner, a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and drink specials. Tolan fundraiser

A spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the Gift of Life Michigan and the Josh Tolan Memorial Scholarship Fund is planned for 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Brandon High School cafeteria, 1025 S. Ortonville Road.

Tolan, a 2007 BHS graduate, died from injuries sustained in an auto accident June 8, 2009. His organs were donated, saving the lives of others.

On Jan. 1, 2011, Josh Tolan's life will be honored by the Gift of Life Michigan in the 2011 Parade of Roses in Pasadena, Calif.
