Ortonville- On Christmas Eve, the streets of the village will glow with luminaries, with the help of volunteers.

The village council will line Mill, Church, South, James, Schoolhouse and Edwards streets with the luminaries, but are seeking volunteers to light them at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 24. Residents of those streets are asked to take a few minutes to light their luminaries.

Residents who wish to line their own street should call the village offices by Dec. 20 with the number of luminaries they would like to pick up. Luminaries will be available at the Department of Public Works building from 9 a.m.-10 a.m., Dec. 24. Luminaries should be disposed of promptly after Christmas.

To volunteer for bagging or lighting of luminaries, call the village offices at 248-627-4976.

Christmas concert

At 7 p.m., Dec. 14, The Point Church, 9430 Perry Road, will host the Christ Illuminated event, including a free concert and silent auction. This free event will feature talent including: Revolution Band, Steve Ratliff of Calvarymen, Highest Praise Gospel Choir, Denae Harrison, and Davison High School String Ensemble. All proceeds will benefit the 2011 South Africa mission trip.

Christmas service

At 10 a.m., Dec. 19, Victory World Outreach, 10291 Green Road, Goodrich will host a Christmas service followed by a free breakfast. At 6 p.m., the chuch will host a free concert by Comedian/Band of the Year, Blaine Bowman and His Goodtime Band. Details: 810-636-2100.

Lock-in

From 5:30-9:30 p.m., Dec. 17, there will be a lock-in for grades K-6 at the Brandon High School, 1025 S. Ortonville Road. Cost is $15 at the door. Activities include a Christmas craft, a variety of games, movies, and a special visit from Santa. Pizza, pop, chips, and cookies will be availabe for sale. All proceeds benefit the Senior All Night party for the Class of 2011. Details:248-627-4976

Euchre party

A euchre party is held every third Friday of the month at the Edna Burton Senior Center, 345 Ball St., Ortonville. The next euchre party is 7 p.m., Dec. 17. Cost is $5. First, second and third prizes are awarded. Details: Mary Lou Williams at 248-627-3737 or Alice Noble at 248-627-3508.

Acrylic painting

From 1-3 p.m., Dec. 20 the Edna Burton Senior Center, 345 Ball St., Ortonville will host an acrylic painting class with artist Steve Wood. The theme will be "Maybe Next Year," and cost is $20.
