December 22, 2010 - Luminaries

Ortonville- Tonight, Christmas Eve, the streets of the village will glow with luminaries with the help of volunteers.

The village council will line Mill, Church, South, James, Schoolhouse and Edwards streets with the luminaries, but are seeking volunteers to light them at 5:30 p.m., Dec. 24. Residents of those streets are asked to take a few minutes to light their luminaries.

Luminaries will be available at the Department of Public Works building from 9 a.m.-10 a.m. Dec. 24. Luminaries should be disposed of promptly after Christmas.

To volunteer for bagging or lighting of luminaries, call the village offices at 248-627-4976.

Craft sale

From 9 a.m.-4 p.m., Jan. 8, 2011 the Edna Burton Sr. Center, 345 Ball St., Ortonville will host a craft, treasure and bake sale. Table rental available, for more information or to reserve a table please call Annette at 248-627-6447 or Faye at 248-627-6041.

Holiday hours

The Citizen newspaper will be closed at noon, Dec. 31 for New Year's Eve. Editorial and advertising deadllines will be noon Dec. 27. Details: 248-627-4332.


At 6 p.m (cards begin at 7 p.m.) Jan. 15, 2011, the Goodrich varsity hockey team will host a euchre tournament at the Goodrich Country Club, 10080 Hegel Road. Cash prizes for first, second and third place. Mexican buffet served at intermission. Details: Chrys, 810-636-3833.

Coffee hour

The last Friday of the month, The Citizen staff hosts a coffee hour at The Citizen offices, 12 South St. The next coffee hour will be at 9 a.m., Jan. 28. The public is invited to enjoy coffee, sweet treats, and conversation. Donations will be accepted for the Ortonville Community Emergency Fund. Details: 248-627-4332.
