January 05, 2011 - Coffee Hour

At 9 a.m., Jan. 28, The Citizen, 12 South St., will host a coffee hour. The public is invited to attend and enjoy treats and conversation. Donations for OCEF will be accepted. Details: 248-627-4332.

Bond Q&A

At 6:30 p.m., Jan. 20, at Reid Elementary Media Center and 6:30 p.m., Jan. 25, at Oaktree Media Center, the Goodrich School District will host a series of bond question and answer sessions. Details: 810-591-2251.

Liaison officer

Brandon Twp.- During a special meeting Dec. 28, the township board unanimously agreed to contract with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office to bring back the school liaison officer for the remainder of the school year.

The agreement is contingent upon the school district signing a contract stating they will pay the township back the $61,709.40 cost.

The school board voted in December to reinstate the police liaison officer. The position was previously paid for by the township, who eliminated the position in July because of budget cuts.

Dave Ramsey

Goodrich- Dave Ramsey Financial Peace University, a 13-week class discussing numerous aspects of managing finances, will be held Sundays from 6-8 p.m. beginning Jan. 16, at Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Road.

Cost is $100 and includes a textbook, workbook, audio cds of the class presentation, and the envelope system.
