January 26, 2011 - Coffee Hour

At 9 a.m., Feb. 25, The Citizen, 12 South St., will host a coffee hour. The public is invited to attend and enjoy treats and conversation. Donations for OCEF will be accepted. Details: 248-627-4332.


From Feb. 1- Feb.21, a local scholarship packet will be available in the Brandon High School counseling office, 1025 S. Ortonville Road and online at: The last day application packets will be accepted is Feb. 22. The scholarships/groups included in the packet are: Brandon Education Association, Chamber of Commerce, Clarkston/Brandon Community Credit Union, CreekFest, Eastern Star, Harvey Fletcher Memorial Scholarship, Harvey-Swanson Elementary Scholarship, Josh Tolan Memorial Scholarship, Lions Club, Masonic Lodge, and Pfc. Joseph Miracle Memorial Scholarship. All scholarship recipients will be announced at the Honors Convoction on May 25. Details:248-627-1826.

Council fundraiser

Starting Jan. 31 through Feb. 4, Brandon High School Student Council is campaigning to raise $10,000 in five days for the Ronald McDonald Houses of Michigan. Each day of the week, the school will hold special contests, fundraisers and games to raise money. The fundraising events include: the Brandon High School boys freshmen, JV and varsity basketball games, Powderpuff Boys Volleyball Tournament, a Bullfrogs Fundraiser, a Mr. Blackhawk competition, and both girls and boys varsity basketball games. Each event will have raffles and contests that cost between $1 and $5. 10 in 5 t-shirts will also be available throughout the week for $10 and will get you in free at the Feb. 4 basketball game. On Feb. 14, the Charter Township of Brandon Treasurer's Office will be open until 7 p.m., the last day of 2010 winter tax collection.
