January 26, 2011 - Hospice volunteers

From 6 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday, Feb. 1 through Feb. 24, training for Genesys Hospice volunteers will be held at the Genesys Hospice Care Center, 7280 S. State Road, Goodrich. Hospice volunteers are needed to visit patients in their homes, provide companionship, offer transportation, writing for and reading to patients, and performing light housework duties. Hospice volunteers are also needed at the Genesys Hospice Care Center, to help take care of the terminally ill patients as well as the inpatients. Details: 810-636-5021.

Euchre at Cranberries

At 4 p.m., Feb. 13, Cranberries Café, 10250 Hegel Road Goodrich will host a Euchre Tournament FUNdraiser for the Class of 2014. Cash bar and 50/50 raffles also available. Must be 21 years of age to participate. Proceeds to benefit the upcoming class events. Tickets available at Goodrich High School and Cranberries Café. Motor City

At 9:30 a.m., Feb. 15, a group will meet for the Motor City Casino - $30 per person and receive $30 back from casino. The bus leaves the Edna Burton Senior Center, 345 Ball St. Deatils or to reserve a seat 248-627-6447.

Fitness

From 4:10 to 5:10 p.m., Feb.15 though March 8, instructor Jessica Kirk will be holding a fitness, nutrition and body image clinic for girls fourth-eighth grades. Location will be Oakwood Elementary Gym, 2839 Oakwood Road every Tuesday. Cost to sign up is $30 and payments Brandon Community Education, 209 Varsity Drive, Ortonville.

Business dodgeball

From 7-10 p.m., Feb. 19, Victory World Outreach, 10291 Green Road, Goodrich.will host the third Annual Business vs. Business Dodgeball Tournament. Local business' can form one or more teams of five and for $10 per team they compete to win all the entrance money and the

coveted trophy.One practice night is scheduled for Sat. Jan 15 and Feb. 5 from 7-10 p.m.. Call 810-636-2100 for more information.

Moms club

The MOMS Club of Ortonville, servicing zip codes 48462 and 48438, holds monthly meetings for stay-at-home moms who would like to connect with other moms in the community. Organized playgroups, kids' adventure days and mom's nights out. Details: 810-869-5930. Website: ortonvillemomsclub.webs.com"

Dodgeball

The free community gym and dodgeball tournaments at the Victory World Outreach church are moved to every first and third Saturday from 7-10 p.m. During this event kids can play basketball, dodgeball, fooseball, table tennis and board games. It is $1 to enter the dodgeball tournament, which includes the divisions sixth grade and under and seventh grade and up, and the winning team in both division takes home the entrance money. Kids 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult. There will be free food and pop sold for $1. Volunteers and chaperones are needed and appreciated, as well as any food donations.

VFW Ladies Auxiliary

If your son or daughter, husband or wife, mother or father or grandfather or grandmother served in any branch of the armed services in a foreign country you may join the Sherman-Wudarcki-Sutton VFW 582 Ladies Auxiliary. Meetings are from 7:30-9:15 p.m., the third Tuesday of each month. The purpose is to provide assistance to local veterans and fund Michigan children of deceased veterans. Mom-to-Mom sale

From 9 a.m-1 p.m., March 5, Goodrich High School Class of 2012 will host a pre-spring Mom2Mom sale. Tables available for mom's to sell gently used children's items and maternity wear. Vendors offering items or services related to children and/or women's interests are also welcome.Rent an 8' table for $15 each and bring your own rack for $5 each. All larger items (furniture, strollers, large toys, etc.) can be placed in our large item room for the fee of $2 each. Pregnancy Loss Support
