February 09, 2011 - The Lady Dragon's proved Thursday night that they don't go down easily.

While Lake Orion trailed for most of the game, a fourth quarter rally saw the Dragons through to a victory over the Troy Colts.

First quarter began with Troy scoring first, but the Lady Dragons were quick with their rebuttal, with the scored tied 8-8 at the end of the quarter.

Second quarter saw Troy score 12 points, and Lake Orion, beginning to trail a bit, scored 11, ending the quarter at 19-20.

During the third quarter, and despite strong plays from Lake Orion, Troy managed to secure 14 points to the Dragon's two. While Lake Orion found themselves on the offense a number of times, shots just didn't seem to meet with net. The quarter ended 21-34.

But the Dragon's weren't finished yet, and during the fourth quarter, they managed to score 17 points to Troy's three, including a two point game-winning shot with about 13 seconds on the clock. Troy made a worthy attempt with a few more shots, but couldn't manage to make the basket. The game ended 38-37.

Junior Maddie Hutchinson was the Dragon's lead scorer, with 17 points. Following her were Senior Nicolette Grannis, with 13 points, Junior Laura Turnbull and Sophomore Emilie Kipp with eight points each, and Junior Marrisa Secontine with six points. Secontine had 13 rebounds.

Coach Steve Roberts said that Lake Orion, currently ranked number six in the league, is currently outranked by the third placed Troy. He also mentioned that Troy had beaten the Lady Dragon's earlier in the season by over 30 points.

"The win was kind of a way of making up for that lose," said Roberts.

The Lake Orion Girl's Varsity Basketball team will play again at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at Southfield Lathrup High School in Lathrup Village.
