At 9 a.m., Feb. 25, The Citizen, 12 South St., will host a coffee hour. The public is invited to attend and enjoy treats and conversation. Donations for OCEF will be accepted. Details: 248-627-4332.

Marijuana

On Monday, the Groveland Township Board of Trustees voted for a 60 day moratiorium on medical marijuana dispensaries. The resolution is needed to allow the township planning commission to meet with the township attorney and planner to develop an ordinance to estabish a dispensary. The commission will meet on March 22 to discuss the issue. An ordinance should be in place by May. On Nov. 4, 2008, Michigan voters approved by 63 percent the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act. The law went into effect Dec. 4, 2008. Groveland Township voters passed the law 1,947 to 1,047 with 65 percent of the vote. In January a spokesperson for Caregivers of America, expressed the desire to establish a co-op for growing medical marijuana in the township.

Chicken dinner

From 5-7 p.m., Feb. 25, Boy Scout Troop 340 will host a chicken dinner fundraiser at the Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Road. Details: 810-287-5925.

Medical & legal workshop

From 2-4 p.m., Feb. 26, Roy Langolf of Coats Village Funeral Home and Robert DeWitt, attorney at law, will host a guidelines for medical and legal decisions workshop at Hardy Hall, St. Anne Church, 825 S. Yoga fundraiser

At 10 a.m., Feb. 26, a fundraiser for the Muzzarelli family will be held at the Old Township Hall, 486 Mill St., Ortonville. One hour of gentle yoga and relaxation will be offered for a donation to the family. Details: Kim, 248-627-4823.

Senior lock-inThere will be a bus trip March 5 to the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant. The bus will leave from Brandon High School, 1025 S. Ortonville Road, at noon and return at 9 p.m. Tickets are $35 -participants will receive $20 back at the casino and a $5 food voucher. McMahon coffee hour

At 4:30 p.m., March 9, Lorrie McMahon, Brandon Schools Superintendent, will host a coffee and conversation meeting at Harvey-Swanson Elementary. Details:248-627-1802.

Bell Festival

At 3 p.m., March 19, the fourth annual Peggy VanVlack Bell Festival featuring a bell concert at the Goodrich High School Auditorium, 8029 S. Gale Road. Seven handbell choirs will be participating, with guest conductor Rob Meyer. Details: 248-627-7445.
