April 20, 2011 - The varsity lacrosse team is still taking it's lumps on the athletic playing field as they lost their first three games of the season.

Oxford was outscored 47-14 in the three losses.

Their first game against Port Huron on was a 17-5 loss on March 31.

Their second loss came at the hands of Troy, 16-4, on Tuesday, April 12.

Finally, West Bloomfield defeated Oxford 14-5 on Wednesday, April 13.

Senior Konrad Thaler had two goals against Port Huron and West Bloomfield while junior Garrett Kovacic scored two goals to lead the Wildcats against Troy.

"We've taken our lumps so far, but we knew going in that it would be a challenge because similar to last year, we are a young program, but we are improving every day," Varsity head coach Joe Zmikly said.

However, he noticed in the game against West Bloomfield the Wildcats started to find the offensive flow and rythem.

"We showed some flashes of running the offense correctly passing, catching, hanging onto the ball but we still have to improve in those areas," he said. "That is the name of the game, ball control."

The game against Swartz Creek on Monday, April 18 was postponed due to the weather.

No make-up date has been scheduled yet.
