The Charter Township of Orion Zoning Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing on Monday, May 23, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. in the lower level of the Orion Township Hall, 2525 Joslyn Road, Lake Orion, Michigan 48360, on the following matter:

AB-2011-07, Orion ACE, LLC, Marvin Stone, Temporary Use Permit, 3015 S. Baldwin Road

Sidwell #09-29-126-066

The petitioner is requesting a one-year Temporary Use Permit, per Zoning Ordinance No. 78, Section 30.11,F to allow seasonal merchandise to be displayed on the front sidewalk and propane exchange cages on a concrete slab on the north side of the building.

The petitioner is seeking relief from Sign Ordinance No. 138, Section 8,B, Restricted Business-3 (RB-3) Zoning District, requesting a 14-foot variance from the required 20-foot road right-of-way setback in order to install a ground sign six feet from the road right-of-way.

AB-2011-09, St. Joseph Catholic Church, 715 N. Lapeer Road, Sidwell #09-02-176-001

The petitioner is seeking four variances from Sign Ordinance No. 138 in order to install a ground sign containing a message center: 1)Section 5,A, requesting a variance to install a 24.89-square foot LED message center within a ground sign; 2)Section 8,A, within the Single-Family Residential 1 (R-1) zoning district, requesting a variance of 3.66 feet in height, above the allowed 6.0 feet, for a 9.66-foot tall ground sign; 3)Section 8,A, requesting a variance of 55.22 square feet above the allowed 35 square feet for a ground sign totaling 90.22 square feet; and, 4)Section 8,A, requesting a variance of 17 feet from the required 20-foot road right-of-way setback for a ground sign setback three feet from the road right-of-way.
