Gunshot leads to arrest in MHP

May 04, 2011 - A gunshot fired during a late-night argument inside the Parkhurst Estates manufactured home community in Oxford Township led to the arrest of a Pontiac man who's no stranger to the criminal justice system.

Convicted felon Dustin Matney, 26, was arraigned April 27 in Rochester Hills 52-3 District Court on two felony charges – felon in possession of a firearm (five years) and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony (two years).

Matney was released from the Oakland County Jail after posting 10 percent of a $10,000 bond.

A complaint of a loud fight and a possible gunshot brought sheriff's deputies to the 300 block of Crestwood Drive inside Parkhurst Estates around 12:42 a.m. April 27.

When they arrived at the home, deputies discovered two firearms in plain sight – a .32 caliber revolver and a .243 caliber rifle with scope. The revolver contained five live rounds and one spent casing, according to the report.

Deputies determined the guns allegedly belonged to Matney and he had allegedly fired one round from the .32 revolver into the air during an argument outside the home. No injuries were reported.

According to the sheriff's department, Matney was previously convicted of the following felonies – possession of burglary tools, receiving/concealing stolen property and resisting/obstructing police.

Matney has a pre-exam conference in front of 52-3 District Judge Lisa Asadoorian scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Thursday, May 5.
