May 04, 2011 - It took a while, but the varsity girls soccer team finally broke out offensively with a mercy of Pontiac High School April 28.

Freshman Samantha Medici and junior Brianna Johnson scored twice to lead the Wildcats. Others scorers included seniors Sara Nieboer and Taylor Healy, and juniors Sarah Ruch and Ellen Saville.

"We really did well," head coach Larry Ferris said. "I wanted to keep the game going for Pontiac's sake, but we could have ended it at the end of the first half."

The game was called in the second half after Medici scored her second goal of the game, putting the Wildcats up 8-0. Oxford had a 5-0 lead going into halftime.

Oxford took on Bloomfield Hills Andover at home on Tuesday, May 3 at 7 p.m. before traveling to Southfield-Lathrup on Thursday, May 5. AM
