May 25, 2011 - Area law enforcement collared several suspects over the past week in connection with numerous home invasions.

On May 12, the Genesee County Sheriff's Department reported that two men in their 20s were arrested by GCSD deputies from the Atlas Township substation in connection with a series of area break-ins. GCSD Sgt. David Dwyre said the pair have been connected with at least 12 break-ins in Lapeer, Genesee and Shiawasee counties. Dwyre said a home invasion in Gaines Township was allegedly committed while the residence was occupied. The crimes were committed over the past three months.

In a separate case, two suspects, a 24-year-old Pontiac woman and a 33-year-old Brandon Township man, were arrested on May 16 after a tipster called the Oakland County Brandon Substation with information after reading a newspaper article in The Citizen. The home invasions also occurred in Genesee, Lapeer and Oakland counties. The caller said he knew of a vehicle similar to a vehicle described in the article. Oakland County deputies investigated the incident and put together a packet that was forwarded to Detective Steve Pearson, OCSO Fugitive Team. This information was also provided to the Lapeer County Sheriff's Department and the Metamora Police Department. Felony warrants were also obtained in Lapeer County.

According to police reports, the detectives were able to take one of the suspects who confessed in a patrol car throughout the three counties to some of the sites of the approximately 50 home invasions. The suspect admitted to doing two home invasions per day.

On May 23, Brandon Detective Dale Brown received a tip that a third suspect in the home invasions was living in Atlas Township. The next day, a group of deputies from Brandon and Independence townships and Lapeer County, and a K-9 and aviation unit from OCSO raided the area and arrested the suspect at an address on Jossman Road in Groveland Township. A fourth suspect is still at large.
