At 9 a.m., June 24, The Citizen, 12 South St., will host a coffee hour. The public is invited to attend and enjoy treats and conversation. Donations for OCEF will be accepted. Details: 248-627-4332.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., June 20 and 21 at the Brandon Varsity Football Field, 1025 S. Ortonville Road, the Brandon School District will be holding a Spread Football Camp for students currently entering grades 7-12. Junk in the trunk
From 10 a.m.-6 p.m., June 23 and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. June 24, the "Junk in the Trunk" sale will be held at the Brandon High School student parking lot, 1025 S. Ortonville Road, Ortonville. Bring items to sell or shop. Proceeds are for Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure cancer walk in June. Set up begins at 8 a.m., $15 for single day or $20 for two days. At 10 a.m., June 25, Boy Scout Troop 340 will host a flag retirement cermony at the Goodrich Lions Club, 9196 S. State Road.

On May 31 at the Ortonville Old Town Hall, 486 Mill St., the members of V.F.W Post 58 held a 50-50 raffle. The winners are as follows: First place Cyndi Egles of Clarkston for $506.25 drawn by Cub Scout Ryan Massa; 2nd place Janet Lague of Holly for $303.75 drawn by Cub Scout Noah Brinker; and third place Earl Mehler of Clarkston for $202.50 drawn by Leonard Brohl.
At noon, June 21, the Ortonville/Brandon Chamber of Commerce will hold its monthly meeting at the Brandon Township Library, 304 South St., Ortonville. The chamber will honor the 2011 scholarship winners. David Kwapis, Brandon fire chief, will be the speaker. RSVP: 248-627-8079.
Police service committee
At 6:30 p.m., July 11 the Atlas Township Committee to review funding for police services will meet at the Atlas Township Hall, 7386 S. Gale Road. The committee was established to provide public input on the future of funding for police in the township. The advisory committee members are Jim Ellis, Donna Hart, Jon Sheerin, David Lucik, Cliff Neville, Brian Howe, Connie Cryderman, Clark Johnson, and Jenny McKenzie.
From 6-9 p.m., July 1 at Crossman Park, the Ortonville Chamber of Commerce will be holding the Beets, Beats & Eats "Unconventional Farmers Market" that will include an informative and fun night of recycling activities and education, including a freecycle exchange, the ScrapMobile for kids crafting and a recycling area. This is just one of the many attractions at the Beets, Beats & Eats celebration. Entry to the park is free.
