August 17, 2011 - Transformation of the 12-room Addis-Walter House, 44 East Washington in downtown Clarkston, will be unveiled Sept. 23. The 2011 Designer Showcase House Opening Night Benefit, 7-11 p.m., includes a strolling gourmet dinner, silent auction, and a chance to meet each designer.

The home will then be open to tour from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. weekdays and from 11 a.m.- 7 p.m. on weekends through Oct. 2. The designer showcase benefits Clarkston SCAMP, a five-week summer camp for special needs children and adults. The entire home, including decks and porches, will be redecorated for the project.

Participating design companies include Bytner Design, d'Avignon Interiors, Front Door Designs, The Parsonage, Plum Hollow Design Studio, Clarkston Flower Shoppe, Sue Thompson Interiors & Antiques, Lauren Brasile Interiors, KH Home, Donna Miles Interiors, Clever Closets and student teams from Wayne State University and Baker College.

Each designer will incorporate an ecologically friendly element into their design.

Tickets for Opening Night are $85. General admission tour tickets are $10, valid Sept. 24-Oct. 2. All tickets are available to purchase at many Clarkston businesses and through Clarkston SCAMP.

Since January, plans had been in the works to remodel a late Victorian Clarkston home and open it to the public as a benefit for SCAMP. Then in mid-July, the owner of the home to be renovated had to pull out of the project for personal reasons. Finding another home wasn't easy since owners had to move out immediately so designers could get to work, said Anne Mancour, Designer Showcase House Benefit chair.
