Bicyclist robbed near village trail, perhaps at knifepoint

August 24, 2011 - A 22-year-old Oxford Township man was robbed around 3:35 a.m. Monday, Aug. 22 while riding his bicycle through the village.

The strong-arm robbery occurred near the intersection of Lakeville Rd. and Glaspie St.. The victim was riding his bicycle eastbound on a paved safety path.

When he approached the Scripter Park trail, he observed two males, one white and one black, who appeared to be in their late teens.

The two men approached the victim and asked him for a cigarette.

As the victim was reaching into his pocket for his pack of cigarettes, the black male allegedly grabbed him by his shirt, near the neck, and demanded his wallet.

According to the village police report, the victim heard a "clicking sound," which he believed was a knife opening.

Fearing he may get stabbed, the victim surrendered his brown leather bi-fold wallet, which contained approximately $5-$10, driver's license, social security card, bank card and a few business cards.

According to the victim, the white male did and said nothing during the robbery.

The black male was decribed as approxmately 5-10 to 6 feet in height and wearing a long sleeve shirt.

The while male was described as being around 5-6 in height and wearing a silver to cream colored, zip-style hooded sweartshirt.
