September 28, 2011 - Canines of all shapes, sizes and breeds took over downtown Oxford's Centennial Park Sunday as the Art Capsule Gallery & Frame hosted its first annual "Dog Day Afternoon and Next Top Doggie Model Contest."

A total of 31 pooches entered the contest.

Photos and video of them all are posted at www.facebook.com/artcapsule. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favorite pooch on-line through Sunday, Oct. 2.

The winner will be announced Oct. 3.

The lucky canine will receive a free 12-inch-by-9-inch portrait of him or herself painted by one of two artists – Linda Hodge or Bernice Hadella. As part of the prize ArtCapsule Gallery & Frame will frame the portrait at no charge. The prize is a $350 value.

Dogs without homes also benefited from the event as it raised $150 for the Oxford-based K-9 Stray Rescue League.
