NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON CHANGING REGULAR SCHOOL ELECTION DATE
The Lake Orion Community Schools (the "School District") will hold a public hearing to discuss the issue of whether to change the School District's Regular School Election date.
The regular election dates authorized by the Michigan Election Law for a school district's regular school election are as follows:
1) May, odd years;
2) November, even and odd years;
3) November, odd years; or
4) November, even years.
The School District currently holds its Regular School Election at the May regular election date, odd years only. The School District is proposing to change its Regular School Election to the November regular election date, even years only. If the November regular election date, even years only, is approved by the Board of Education, the School District's Regular School Election will be held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November in even years only.
If the Board of Education fails to approve the change to the School District's Regular School Election date, the Regular School Election will continue to be held at the May regular election date, odd years only.
The Board of Education is authorized by law to adopt a resolution changing the Regular School Election date immediately subsequent to the public hearing.
The public hearing will be held during the School District's Board of Education meeting on October 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Local Time. The Board of Education meeting will be held at the Administration Building located at 315 N. Lapeer St., Lake Orion, Michigan.
Any person with a disability who needs accommodation for participation in this hearing should contact Marian Ginopolis, Superintendent, at 248-693-5400, at least five days in advance of the hearing to request assistance.
