Holiday decoration winner announced

Elements, a downtown Lake Orion boutique featuring home furnishings, clothing, jewelery and other items, took home this year's "Best Overall Decoration," honors, bestowed by the Lake Orion Downtown Development Authority.

Elements was selected from 28 downtown merchants who decorated their stores—inside and out—for the Christmas season.

"Everyone did a spectacular job and the winner won by just a reindeer nose," wrote DDA Events Coordinator Denise Demak in an email announcing the winner.

Elements will have their name placed on the "coveted Santa trophy," and will also an advertising package from Sherman Publications.

Meanwhile, downtown holiday festivities continue with the Orion Art Center 's annual Holiday Market through Dec. 22. The market features handmade gifts and art created by local artists.

Shoppers can also register to win the "ultimate gift present," filled with over $500 in gifts and coupons from downtown businesses. The winning entry will be drawn Dec. 28.

Letters to Santa, which will be forwarded to elves at the Orion Senior Center to answer, can be dropped off at the special mailbox in front of the DDA office at 51 N. Broadway.
