Remove ImagesFive-vehicle pileup on M-24 March 30, 2011 ![]() Sheriff’s deputies and Oxford firefighters sort through the wreckage of a five-vehicle accident March 23. Around 2:21 p.m., a 29-year-old male from Lapeer was driving southbound on Lapeer Rd. in a 2005 Honda Civic when he failed to stop for the red light and slammed into the back of a 2007 Cadilliac, driven by a 40-year-old female from Metamora. The incident caused a chain reaction crash, with the woman from Metamora hitting a 2003 GMC Pick-Up, driven by a 49-year-old male from Oxford Township. The pick-up then hit a 2001 Honda, driven by a 41-year-old female from Troy, who then proceeded to run into the back of an 18-year-old female from Lake Orion. The driver of the Honda Civic was taken to POH Hospital by the Oxford Fire Department. In addition, he was issued a citation for careless and negligent driving. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the incident. – Andrew Moser |
