Fourth of July

All veterans are invited to Independence Township Fourth of July Festival of Fun and Fireworks.

The festival includes a tribute to veterans and the military, 11 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday, July 4, at Clintonwood Park, 6000 Clarkston Road.

Festivities include a ceremony honoring veterans, meet-and-greet with World War II veterans, military displays in the Carriage House Museum, military vehicles and displays, and vendor displays and information. Veterans who would like to participate in the ceremony and/or items for display are invited to all Barbara Rollin at the center, 248-62508231.

Also, Liberty Mutual offers an contest for more Fourth of July funding. Go to and take an eight-question multiple choice quiz on "Responsible Moments in U.S. History."  Each completed quiz counts as one credit for Independence Township.

The community with the most points by June 14th wins $10,000 towards its July 4 festivities.
