Sign up for summer reading at library, maybe win $1,500 for college

June 15, 2011

Encouraging a child to read during the summer could mean $1,500 toward his or her college savings. The Michigan Education Savings Program (MESP) and the Michigan Education Trust (MET) launched the "Destination College Savings" Sweepstakes as part of the 2011 Library Summer Reading Program.

The sweepstakes, which launched on May 29 and runs through Aug. 12, will award $1,500 to 12 winning Michigan parents to help save for their child's future college education. Plus, each winner's library will receive $1,000 for their future reading programs.

Parents can enter to win by filling out an official Entry Card at the Oxford Public Library when signing up their children for the 2011 Summer Reading Program.

This summer's theme is "One World, Many Stories" for youth.

The Teen and Adult Departments are offering summer reading programs as well, with many upcoming events and outstanding prizes for everyone.
