Opinions

August 24, 2011

Dear Editor,

With all due respect to the H. Wartella and D. Emch opinions let me say a few balanced words concerning my report of facts to the tax payer.

I was engaged by the Village of Goodrich, as a CPA May, 2011, I report financial facts and findings to the council and tax payers.

1. I reported on August 8, 2011, the Village of Goodrich currently has the lowest millage for 2012 at 5.3251. There are six county village units of government; Otisville Village is 16.0253. Village to village millage is one measurement of its cost to taxpayers.

2. The Village Council of Goodrich in 2005-2006 lowers its millage from 7.6073 to 5.3251. The village independent audit report for 2009 & 2010 are on file for public inspection.

3. At no time did I report, suggest or imply a possible millage increase in the future. No one currently on Village council has to my knowledge, discussed a millage increase. The focus is on the Plante Moran Report of September 12, 2011.

Sincerely,

Karl Haiser, CPA
