Goodrich/Atlas Chamber

Power interruption

Between 11:55 p.m. and 7 a.m. Oct. 15, Consumers Energy will be interrupting electric service for areas of Goodrich. If Consumers Energy is unable to perform the scheduled work they will reschedule for the same time period on Oct. 22. Details: Consumers Energy at 1-800-477-5050.

Trick-or-treat Ortonville

Ortonville- Trick-or-treating will take place in the village from 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 31. The annual Halloween bonfire with cider and doughnuts will take place at the DPW building, 159 Cedar St., immediately following trick-or-treating.

During the hour of trick-or-treating in the village, the following streets will be closed: Church from Mill Street to Oakwood Road; Cedar Street from Mill Street to Ball Street; and Ball Street from Cedar Street to Church Street. No cars during that hour will be allowed in or out.

Donations of individually wrapped candy can be dropped off at the village offices, 476 Mill St. from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday until Oct. 29 or after 5 p.m. at Papa Bella's Pizza, 425 Mill St.

Any village residents who would like to be put on the list for Halloween candy to distribute should call the village offices at 248-627-4976 or stop into the office.

CBCCU: 20 years with schools

Clarkston Brandon Community Credit Union will soon be celebrating its 20 years of partnership with Brandon schools.

The program, which started in 1991, has a goal "to teach the youth some financial information, in order to grow that way," said Renee Doyle, Brandon Schools coordinator at the Credit Union. "Some of them learn how to be a teller or bookkeeper. Others learn how to grow and save money and they learn about other accounts." The biggest message that the kids should walk away with is that "the credit union is here to serve their needs," said Doyle.

The celebration will be held Oct. 13 at Harvey Swanson Elementary, 209 Varsity Drive, Ortonville, at the outdoor playground area from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome to join the celebration which will include food, a raffle, giveaways, and much more. From 4:05-4:50 p.m. at Oakwood Elementary, 2839 Oakwood Road, Ortonville, in room 31, the STARS reading program will be held every Tuesday and Thursday, beginning Oct. 18 and ending Nov. 17. The cost is $25, due before the first session. The program is also in need of donations of AA and AAA batteries, juice boxes, and healthy snacks. Friends of the Library

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 22, the Friends of the Library will host a book sale at the Goodrich Library, 10237 Hegel Road, Goodrich. Details: 810-636-2489.
