Lake Orion's varsity hockey team is hitting on all cylinders, as they blew past Birhmingham United, 8-0, and Rochester United, 6-1, last week.

The wins give the Dragons a 4-0 record in OAA Red league play and an overall record of 7-3. They are ranked sixth in Div. 1 and twelfth overall in the state.

Against Birmingham United, Shane Stockwell and Nick Balavich led the offense with six points each. Goalies Logan Aldrige and Drew Galasso shared the net for the shutout.

Playing Rochester United, special team play secured the Dragon's sixth win a row. Head coach Nick Field with was pleased with his team's ability to capitalize on power play opportunities.

"You have to take advantage of situations like these and we scored four of our six goals that night with an extra player," he said.

The coach added it was a hard-fought team effort against Rochester United, with goals from Joe Bono and Kurt Latshaw.

Winner of six straight, Lake Orion plays Oxford on Thursday at home.
