Junior Emma Kimmel dominated the field for the Wildcat girls varsity lacrosse team on Wednesday, April 12. Kimmel's 8 goals helped propel OHS to a 12-11 overtime victory over Carman-Ainsworth.

It was Kimmel's game-tying goal with 40 seconds in regulation that vaulted OHS into the extra session. She followed that with the go-ahead goal in the overtime. Assistant Coach Amy Sarris was effusive in her praise for Kimmel's performance. Kimmel is "a super-strong player," Sarris said.

Kimmel wasn't alone in her effort, Coach Sarris pointed out. "Kayli Kammerer had an exceptional defensive effort," the coach noted.

Sarris also lauded Goalie Caitlyn Wrobleski. Wrobleski shut down the competition when it mattered most, blocking a Cavalier charge in the last 30 seconds to preserve the Wildcat's one-goal lead.

In their second tilt of the week, OHS ladies came up short against University Liggett High 10-7. Emma Kimmel and Jordan Pieczynski continued their strong play with 3 goals a piece, while Madi Eschberger chipped in another goal.

On Monday, the Oxford Varsity went up against Walled Lake Varsity and won 17-1. Brooklynn Allen had a standout defensive performance with 5 groundballs, while Abby Wrobel and Riley Hayes had 3 takeaways each.

OHS spread the scoring out among many players: Brittany Basela, Abby Wrobel, Jordan Pieczinski, Kayce Calcaterra, and Brenda Flasher each scored 2 goals. Madi Eischberger added 3 goals, while Emma Kimmel led all OHS scorers with 4 goals.

In the first junior varsity tilt of the season, OHS lost to Walled Lake 8-5. Coach Sarris was pleased nonetheless, and said that the girls put in a "great effort! Many girls have never played this sport before."
