Donkey basketball moves to May 12

At 7 p.m., May 12, at the Fletcher Intermediate School gym, 300 South St, Ortonville, the Ortonville Lions Club will present Donkey Basketball. The event had been set for May 4. Brandon High School students will play the winner of the BHS faculty or Brandon firefighters and police teams. Tickets $6 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at most Brandon school offices or during lunch hours. Proceeds will benefit the Lions scholarship fund and local charities. Details: John Nivelt, 248-240-8064.

Ice Cream Social

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., May 17, at the Brandon High School, 1025 S. Ortonville Road, behind the school by the stadium, the annual Ice Cream Social will be held to benefit the Brandon music department. Donations are encouraged. Details: Janice Serbinoff, 248-202-7507.

Library Committee

"Support Our Library" meets at 7 p.m., May 7, at Fire Station 2 on Sashabaw, just south of Seymour Lake Road. Details: Chuck Murray, 248-892-7632.

All night senior lock-in

On June 1, the Brandon High School graduating class of 2012 will host an all-night senior lock-in party. Tickets $15 and are for sale on Wednesdays during lunch hour. Parents or area businesses who would like to contribute a donation or have any questions, call Ann at 248-627-2810.

Children's essay contest

Wojo's Greenhouse, 2570 Oakwood Road, is seeking a short essay from children in the third and fourth grades explaining why their mother should receive flowers for Mother Day. Children in the first and second grades are welcome to write a paragraph. Winners will receive a $50 Wojo's gift card and will be announced May 7. 248-627-6498.

Yard sale

From 8 a.m.-4 p.m., May 12, Boy Scout Troop 139, will host a yard sale, at the Old Town Hall, 486 Mill St., Ortonville. Proceeds are for Relay For Life. 248-444-7091.
