Softball team wins Jill Milosch tourney

The Oxford High School varsity softball team defeated Rochester Adams and Utica Ford II for a repeat victory at the 8th Annual Jill Milosch Memorial tournament.

The tournament is held in memory of Jill Milosch, a 2003 Oxford graduate who died in 2004. Milosch was a member of the varsity basketball and softball teams. Coaches and players recall Milosch as the ultimate teammate and team player.

Against Rochester, sophomore pitcher Kyla Kurczewski shut out the Highlanders 8-0.

Senior Cassie Edgemon went 4 for 5 with 3 RBI's and 2 runs scored, freshman Cherilyn Banas scored 2 runs, and junior Jessica Palumbo went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 2 runs scored.

Oxford then defeated Utica Ford II 7-4. Junior Brooke Harris got the win on the mound and recorded 4 strikeouts. Junior Autumn Cervantez went 2 for 4 and Cassie Edgemon 2 for 3 and both had an RBI and a run scored.

Oxford will host Clarkston May 16.
