Remove ImagesVeterans keep memories alive May 30, 2012 ![]() World War II veteran Charles J. Smalley receives a veteran’s medal at the ceremony. Smalley fought on D-Day through France, and was wounded in the Hurtgen Forest in Germany. He earned the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badge, and other medals. He was also Clarkston police marshal until 1993.
The day's events kicked off with a parade through downtown Clarkston, featuring the Legion honor guard, Clarkston High School marching band, and local military vehicles. |
