Reggie Harrison and Straight 8 kick off this year's Concert in the Park series with roots rock and classics on July 11 at 7 p.m.

"It will be great fun to play in the gazebo and enjoy the beautiful new park we are excited to kick off the music series," said Harrison, a long- time Lake Orion resident and community activist. Straight 8 is comprised of Albert Young, Jamie Schultz, Rick Borland and Rick Shatner.

Downtown Development Authority (DDA) Director Suzanne Perreault agreed and said they are looking forward to this year's concerts at the newly renovated Children's Park as well.

"Last summer we were under construction and we relocated a lot of our concerts, but this year I think the community is going to be able to enjoy the new improvements to the park," she said. "We have a great lineup this year, six weeks of different style bands."

July 18 will feature reggae and world beat band One Love. July 25 will have '60's British and America pop band Paisley Fog. August 1 will feature Latin jazz and salsa band PanaMo. Aug.ust 8 will include Lac La Belle, an American folk and acoustic duo. Floyd King & the Bushwhackers will conclude the season on Aug.ust15.

"I think it will be a pretty fun, friendly family free event," added Perreault.

Children's Park is located just off Broadway Street. For more information on the free gazebo music series, contact the Lake Orion DDA at 248-693-9742 or visit www.downtownlakeorion.org
