No one was injured in a house fire in the 7000 block of Deer Acres Court, 9:42 a.m., Sept. 7.

An Oakland County Sheriff's deputy on patrol saw smoke from Dixie Highway and called it in. When he found the burning house off Holcomb Road, it was already fully ablaze.

Independence Township firefighters arrived to find the structure collapsed. With no fire hydrants in the area, Independence Township dispatched both of its tanker trucks, and Springfield and Brandon township firefighters also provided water.

The home was under construction and unoccupied, though a neighbor said the house has been known as a hangout for kids. The fire is under investigation by both Independence Township and sheriff's fire investigation units.
