Absentee ballots

October 10, 2012

Independence Township sent absentee ballots out to voters on Oct. 5, and they should be returned no later than the close of the polls on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m., said Clerk Barb Pallotta.

Absentee ballots must be clearly marked using black or blue ink, and voters should be sure to check both sides of their ballot. Citizens who vote straight ticket will need to vote on nonpartisan and proposal sections separately.

If any errors are made, absentee voters can return their ballot to the Clerk's office for a new one. Voter registration ended on Oct. 9.

Of the 7,718 voters who cast ballots in the primary election, 2,666 voted absentee.
