October 10, 2012

Orion Township Clerk. Penny Shults, wants to remind you about the upcoming election on Tuesday, November 6. Lake Orion polls will be open from 7 a.m.-8 p.m. at the regular polling stations.

This is the general election, which means that Orion voters can vote for national candidates like the President as well as congressional representatives. In addition, Orion citizens will cast ballots for State House Representative, for Education and Library Board members, for county and township government candidates, and for Michigan Supreme Court, Court of Appeals and Circuit Court Judges. Voters in Orion will also choose the fate of six proposals on the ballot.

In order to cast a ballot in the general election, voters must have been registered by no later than October 9.

Shults said that a two sided ballot is necessary this year due to the number of entries on the ballot. Therefore, both sides of the ballot should be heeded to make sure your vote is accurately counted.

Voters wishing to review the ballot before the election may do so by coming to Shults's office or visiting the Township website at Information about precincts, sample ballots, and ballot proposals can be found at

Voters who will be unable to cast a ballot on November 6 can obtain absentee voter ballots at the Orion Township Clerk's Office at 2525 Joslyn Road weekdays between the hours of 8 a.m. -4:30 p.m. Absentee voter ballots must be mailed in by Saturday, November 3.

The Clerk's office will remain open for absentee voter balloting from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 3. You may also personally submit your absentee ballot in the Clerk's office on Monday November 5 until 4 p.m.

Come election day, each precinct will be staffed by trained election inspectors who can answer questions. Please visit your regular polling location to cast your vote.

For any questions about voting, please contact Penny Shults, your Orion Twp. Clerk at 248-391-0304, ext. 104.
