Casa Real donates $10K to turf

November 14, 2012

Alberto Pimentel (center left), owner of Casa Real in downtown Oxford, recently donated $10,000 to the Oxford Football Club’s Turf Committee, represented by (from left) Jim Reis, Shannon Groedl and Ron Davis.
Downtown Oxford's popular Mexican restaurant Casa Real, owned by Alberto Pimentel, recently donated $10,000 to help pay off the debt for the blue turf that covers Oxford High School's football field.

"I was absolutely overwhelmed by his generosity," said Shannon Groedl, a member of the Turf Committee.

"He did not want any publicity, as he is a very genuine and quiet person. I then told Alberto that our community should know about this."

Groedl noted that Pimentel is "an extremely generous person and always willing to donate" to a variety of groups and causes.

"Alberto has always contributed to fundraising activities that I have informed him about," she said. "In addition, he has always exceeded the amounts that he originally committed to, which really shows his willingness to help our community."

"I really would like our community to know that he is such a generous and giving individual and business owner and how much he supports Oxford," Groedl added.
