by David Fleet

November 21, 2012

Former International Academy of Flint head coach and current Flint Powers assistant Tim Tenneriello has been hired as an interim coach for the Goodrich High School Varsity Basketball team's 2012-13 season.

Tenneriello, a Grand Blanc resident and 2007 graduate of Genesee Christian High School, has played for and coached with three Flint area coaches — Dan Chapman, Chris Matheson and Jeremy Trent. He was also an assistant coach with Swartz Creek and the International Academy of Flint.

Tenneriello steps in for Martian Head Coach Gary Barns, a 21-year veteran who along with assistant coach Wayne Wilson, is on administrative leave for the 2012-13 season due to issues with parents and players. Both are expected to return next season.

"This is a great opportunity for me and I'm excited to get started," said Tenneriello, 23, a 2007 University of Michigan—Flint graduate, "I truly care about the players here at Goodrich. Coach Barns did a fantastic job here—I'm going to try to keep that going for him. I'll be heading back to Powers High School in the fall."

The Martians will be returning five seniors, four juniors, three sophomores and one freshman.

"We're going to get out and run and play a fun style of basketball," said Tenneriello. "This team has a great work ethic."
