Thursday will remain trash day

Oxford Village residents will continue to have their garbage and recyclables collected on Thursdays as they have been for years.

The village's new trash hauler, the Sterling Heights-based Rizzo Environmental Services, was planning to make Friday the new collection day beginning later this month, but apparently, that plan's been nixed, according to village Manager Joe Young.

Rizzo originally wanted to do its collections in the villages of Oxford and Lake Orion on Fridays.

However, Lake Orion didn't want to switch from its current Monday pickup, so the plan was scrapped, Young said. CJC
