Christmas is still a week away, but some lucky kids got the opportunity to shop early and meet a hero.

The Orion, Oxford and Brandon township fire departments, STAR EMS, Police from Sylvan, Oxford and Orion and Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies from substations in Orion, Oxford, Oakland, Brandon and Addison, the FBI, Marines and Military Police all joined forces to give less-fortunate kids a happy holiday at the Oxford Meijer on Dec. 13.

Thanks went out to Meijer's Lisa Hayduk and her staff, Oakland County Credit Union, Orion Township Contractor Larry Mullins and others for raising money, and to 24th Street Tavern in Oxford for providing the food.
