Ortonville man arraigned in assault of assistant prosecutor

March 27, 2013

A 17-year-old Ortonville resident has been arraigned after assaulting an attorney in court.

Jordan Sosa was arraigned March 26 in 52-3 District Court on a charge of assault. Bond was set at $10,000 cash surety, no 10 percent.

According to Oakland County Sheriff's Office police reports, Sosa was in 52-2 District Court Feb. 21, facing a charge of aggravated assault against a neighbor, to which he pleaded guilty. Following the bench trial, he was ordered by Judge Joseph Fabrizio to exit the courtroom and wait in the lobby. As he was leaving court, he dipped his shoulder several inches and struck the assistant prosecutor, knocking her back in her chair and causing her pain.

The assault was witnessed by the detective working the case as well as another courtroom observer and as Sosa continued toward the door, he looked back and smirked and said something to the effect of, "My bad!" or "Excuse me!"

Sosa is scheduled to appear for a pre-exam conference on his latest assault at 8:30 a.m., April 8, in front of 52-3 District Court Judge Nancy Tolwin Carniak.
