FISH to host open house Sunday

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Oxford-Orion FISH will host an open house on Sunday, Aug. 18 from 1-4 p.m.

The open house will take place at FISH's food pantry at 487 First St. in the unincorporated village of Thomas, located in northern Oxford Township.

The event is an opportunity to learn about what FISH has done to help its neighbors for the last 40 years and what it continues to do. Consisting of more than 80 volunteers, the nonprofit group gave away 10,825 pounds of free food to 150 households, consisting of 320 individuals, in the last month.

Big dogs, small dogs and hot dogs

Harvest Time (1125 S. Lapeer Rd.) in Oxford Township will host a fund-raising event for the K-9 Stray Rescue League on Satuday, Aug. 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Dogs available for adoption will be on site to snuggle and fall in love with. Have your fill at the grill, then bring home a furry new member of the family.

There will also be a mystery give-away.
