Art fest in Depot Park

September 18, 2013

Art and antiques will fill Depot Park in downtown Clarkston for the 40th annual Art in the Village, Sept. 21 and 22. Hours for the juried show, hosted by the Clarkston Community Historical Society, are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday; and 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sunday.

The Clarkston Union restaurant, a presenting sponsor, returns with its famous Mac & Cheese, as well as other selections from a limited menu.

Art in the Village is the historical society's main fundraiser. Proceeds go to exhibits at the Clarkston Heritage Museum, purchase and restoration of Clarkston artifacts and educational activities throughout the year.

Nearly 90 artists and artisans will offer decorative, functional, and wearable art at the event, which also features live music, children's activities, and food sold by local nonprofit organizations.

The historic society will sell doughnuts and locally pressed cider. Community organizations will also sell pizza, sandwiches, corn-on-the-cob and ice cream.

The Antique Tent will feature donated antiques and collectibles for sale. A Silent Auction Tent features items generously donated to the Historical Society by show artists.

The society also will sell shirts, bags, hats, blankets, note cards and other Clarkston merchandise. The Clarkston Farm and Garden Club returns with fresh-cut flower arrangements and mums.

For more information, call the Clarkston Heritage Museum at 248-922-0270. Smaller antique items and collectibles can be dropped off for donation at the Clarkston DPW garage near the Village offices on Friday, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
