Rep. Jacobsen's letter touting the benefits that right to work legislation will bring to our state is puzzling. If this is true, I wonder why he and his republican cohorts waited until the last week of the lame duck session to introduce this law. These house members also made sure there was no public input, no committee hearings, and waited until well after midnight to have the roll call vote. This doesn't sound like a group of people who are proud of their actions
I noticed Mr. Jacobsen failed to mention some of the other laws he and his friends pushed through, including a new emergency manager law (even though Michigan citizens had voted it down just weeks earlier).
Worst of all was the new measure easing concealed weapon laws. This was passed just a day after the mall shooting in Portand, Or. A few days later the tragic school shooting in Conn, occurred. Since then the silence from Lansing has been deafening, no mention of rethinking this law, no regrets, no comments at all. What a slap in the face to anyone who lost a loved one at Sandy Hook Elementary.
